Our mistakes can be good teachers.

I love the Medium platform because it provides a new audience for posts I have written on my other website. I began writing my lifestyle blog back in 2014 and there is a lot of evergreen content buried there, which Medium readers might enjoy. I have imported a few of these posts and learned some valuable lessons right away.

I’m sharing those mistakes and lessons learned, with the hope they will help you too.

Two mistakes to avoid when importing a story to Medium

My first attempts at cross-posting articles taught me a lot about what can go wrong when importing content to medium. Fortunately, both mistakes are easy to avoid, if you are aware of them.

1. Missing or misplaced content.

The easiest way to import content to Medium from somewhere else is to use the “Import” button.

Here are the steps to do so:

  1. Click your profile photo in the top right corner of the screen
  2. Click on “Stories” from the dropdown menu
